Rainbow Mountains: A geniuine wonder

Well, i was also stunned when i first came to know of these naturally coloured mountains called "rainbow mountains". As per my knowlege, they have been discovered at two places on earth, Cusco Peru and at china's Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park in the Gansu province. This article is primarily partening peru but i will discuss china's site in a separate article.

To me and most of the exploring lovers, now one of the amazing things to do in "Cusco peru" is to visit these mysterious rocks, a natural wonder, that was only explored in 2015, it will be shocking to learn for most of you. It shows we still have to know more about earth. Human eye might catch something more stunning than that after the demise of those who are alive today.

In Holy quran, the holy book of muslims, it is also mentioned about colourful mountains which sounds similiar to these stones.

Quran (35:27)

Do you not see that Allah sent down water from the sky with which We brought forth fruits of diverse hues? In the mountains there are white and red, of diverse hues, and pitchy black.

 

Elevation

This rainbow mountain has altitude of almost 5200 meters above sea level, and lies approximately 100 southeast of the city of cusco. As this fascinating spot is not too far away from cusco, tourists won't have any issue to go there and return the very same day.

Things to know before visit

The trek is not too easy as you might be imagining, but not too tough as well. If you're planning to be there, i will advise you to get some training for high altitudes. Start working on your fitness, as you'd have heard "no pain, no gain". It is tiped by some tourists to stay in cusco for at least couple of days before the adventure, for adapation of environment. But if you don't have much time, you can do it in one full day.

According to a visitor, after driving for 3 hours, you will arrive in Quesiuno, located at 4320 km, where the trek will begin. Depending on your hiking experience, the trek can take 3-4 hours to reach the outlook. In this adventure, you will also have an opportunity to learn about local people and culture.

When you reach the outlook, you'll have about an hour to explore the area of this unique natural wonder.
